This treatment uses a prescription-only medicine. UK advertising rules do not permit clinics to name or promote the medicine, publish its price, or show before and after photographs of it. This page explains the treatment and the consultation. Whether it is right for you, the medicine itself and the cost are discussed with Annie in person, at a free consultation.
How filler dissolving works
Hyaluronic acid filler can be broken down with an enzyme that is a prescription-only medicine. Injected into the area, it breaks down the filler so your body can absorb and clear it naturally.
Because it is prescription-only, Annie has to assess you in person before it can be prescribed, and the dissolving itself happens at a separate appointment after your consultation and patch test. Annie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and independent prescriber, so the person who assesses you and prescribes is the person who treats you. UK rules mean prescription-only medicines cannot be named or priced in advertising, so your price is given at your consultation.
Only hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved this way. If you are not sure what filler you had, or where, Annie will talk this through with you, and if you can find out from the clinic that treated you, that helps.
Why people choose correction
The most common reasons are filler that has migrated, for example above the lip border, lumps or unevenness, a result that looks heavier than expected, or swelling under the eyes after tear trough filler. Some people simply want to start again with a lighter, more natural approach.
Annie offers two options. Dissolving on its own includes the consultation and patch test. Alternatively, dissolving can be followed by refilling four weeks later, once the area has settled, so you can have the result you wanted in the first place.
More than one dissolving session is sometimes needed, depending on how much filler is present and how long it has been there. Annie will tell you what to expect at your consultation.
The patch test
Before routine dissolving, a small patch test is done to check for an allergic reaction to the enzyme. Annie will tell you when yours will be done.
The exception is an emergency. If filler is ever affecting the blood supply to the skin, restoring blood flow comes first, and that is part of the complication training Annie holds as a member of the Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group.

Two appointments
Your consultation and patch test, then your treatment
- 01 Your consultation: medical history, allergies, and what filler you had, where and when
- 02 Assessment of the area, an honest view of what dissolving can achieve, and a patch test to check for an allergic reaction
- 03 Consent, covering the risks, the alternatives and the option of not going ahead. If appropriate, Annie writes your prescription
- 04 Your treatment appointment, on a later day once the patch test has been checked: Annie injects the enzyme
- 05 Written aftercare and a number to call before you leave
Safety
What you need to know before filler correction and dissolving
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Known allergy to the enzyme, or to bee or wasp stings
- A reaction to the patch test
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active infection, cold sores or inflamed skin at the treatment site
- Some medicines can interact, so please bring a full medication list
Common and expected
- Swelling, redness and itching at the treatment site for a day or two
- Bruising and tenderness
- The area can look flatter or uneven for a while, as some of your own natural hyaluronic acid can be affected too. This settles over the following weeks
Serious risks
The most serious risk is an allergic reaction, which in very rare cases can be severe. This is why a patch test is done first and why the treatment should only be given by a medical professional trained to manage allergic reactions. Annie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, an independent prescriber and a member of the Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group, and you are given a number to call straight away if you notice swelling that spreads, difficulty breathing or any other concern.
Aftercare
- Avoid touching or massaging the area for the rest of the day unless Annie advises otherwise
- No makeup over the injection points for twelve hours
- No alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms for 24 hours
- Wait for Annie's advice before any further filler. Refilling is usually booked for four weeks later
- Contact Annie straight away if you notice spreading swelling, rash or difficulty breathing
Questions
Can you dissolve filler that was done somewhere else?
Yes, as long as it is hyaluronic acid filler. Annie will ask what you had, where and when, and assess the area before recommending anything.
Why is the price not listed?
The enzyme used is a prescription-only medicine, and UK rules mean its price cannot be advertised. Annie will give you a clear price at your consultation, before you decide anything.
Will I need more than one session?
Sometimes. It depends on how much filler is there and how long it has been in place. Annie will tell you what to expect at your consultation.
How soon can I have filler again?
Annie offers dissolving with refilling four weeks later, which gives the area time to settle before new filler is placed.
Why do I need a patch test?
To check you are not allergic to the enzyme before treatment. It is included in Annie's dissolving offer.
Is the clinic easy to reach from Norwich?
Yes. Annie treats clients at The Orange Grove Clinic in Wymondham, NR18 0BD, with plenty of parking and easy access from Norwich, the A11 and the A47. The clinic is relaxed, private and quiet. You can book online, or call 07359 836026 if you would like to talk anything through first.
