Radiofrequency skin tightening
Radiofrequency is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment for mild to moderate sagging. It sends controlled heat into the deeper layer of the skin, the dermis, where collagen is made, while the outer layer stays intact.
That heat causes the existing collagen to contract, which gives an immediate tightening effect, and prompts the skin to produce new collagen. The improvement continues to build over the weeks and months that follow.
Radiofrequency is often chosen by people from their mid-30s to their 50s who are starting to notice looser skin, and it is suitable for all skin tones. Annie can treat the forehead, around the eyes, the cheeks and mid-face, the jawline and the neck.
The carbon laser facial
The carbon laser facial starts with a thin layer of mineral-rich black carbon lotion, nano-activated with vitamins B3 and B5, amino acids and marine minerals. The lotion settles into the pores and over the surface of the skin.
A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is then passed over the face. The laser energy is drawn to the carbon and vaporises it, lifting away dead skin cells and congestion with it. At the same time the laser breaks up pigment and gently heats the skin, which encourages collagen and a tighter feel.
It can improve the look of enlarged pores, oily skin, blackheads and whiteheads, uneven pigmentation and age spots, rough texture and the marks left by old breakouts. Melasma can be unpredictable and may return, so Annie will talk you through what is realistic for your skin. The treatment takes under an hour and has no downtime.
Why a course works best
Many people notice brighter, smoother skin after a single session, but collagen takes time to build and pigment fades gradually. For that reason both treatments are offered every four weeks, as a course of six sessions.
A course of six radiofrequency sessions is £450, which saves on paying per session. Annie will review your skin at each visit and adjust the plan if needed. Results vary from person to person, and what you do at home, especially daily sun protection, makes a real difference to how long they last.

Every new client starts with a free, in-person consultation with Annie before any treatment is booked. On the day
What happens at your appointment
- 01 Annie checks your medical history, any medication and recent sun exposure, and looks closely at your skin.
- 02 Your skin is cleansed and any makeup is removed.
- 03 For radiofrequency, a conductive gel is applied and the handpiece is moved over the area. You will feel a warming sensation that should stay comfortable.
- 04 For the carbon laser facial, you wear protective eyewear, the carbon lotion is applied and allowed to dry, and the laser is passed over the skin. Most people feel warmth and a light snapping sensation.
- 05 Your skin is cleaned and soothed, sun protection is applied and Annie talks you through your aftercare.

What you need to know before radiofrequency and carbon laser facial
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- A pacemaker or other implanted electronic device (radiofrequency)
- Active infection, cold sores, broken skin or inflamed acne in the treatment area
- A tan, sunburn or recent sunbed use (carbon laser facial)
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last six months, or medication that makes the skin sensitive to light
- Dermal filler or other injectable treatment in the area recently, with timing discussed at consultation
- Epilepsy triggered by light, or a history of keloid scarring, assessed individually

Serious risks
Both treatments are low risk when carried out by a trained practitioner with the right settings for your skin. Uncommonly, heat-based treatments can cause blistering, a burn, or patches of lighter or darker skin, which are more likely on tanned skin or if aftercare is not followed and are usually temporary. Contact the clinic straight away if you notice blistering, crusting or any change that worries you.
Aftercare
- Wear a broad spectrum SPF 50 every day, even when it is cloudy
- Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds during your course
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and strenuous exercise for 24 hours
- Skip retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs for a few days
- Keep your skin moisturised with gentle, fragrance-free products
