What Profhilo is
Profhilo is an award-winning hyaluronic acid gel with one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available in an injectable. When it is placed in the skin it stimulates skin cell receptors, counteracting laxity and helping to improve and restore firmness.
Unlike a dermal filler, Profhilo is not designed to hold a shape. It spreads gently beneath the skin, hydrating the tissue as it goes. So it will not lift a cheekbone or define a jawline. It improves the skin itself.
It is suitable for adults of all ages and genders, and suits people whose main concern is skin that has started to look loose, crepey or tired.
Face, neck, décolletage and hands
Profhilo is used on the face, neck, décolletage and the backs of the hands, which are the areas where laxity and sagging tissue tend to show. The neck, chest and hands often change before the face does, and they respond well to this kind of treatment.
If your concern is deeper loss of structure rather than skin quality, a biostimulator may be a better fit. If you would like to focus on the eyes, polynucleotides or Sunekos may suit you. Annie will talk you through the options honestly.
The treatment course
Profhilo is given through a small number of injections at set points, chosen so the gel spreads evenly across the area. A course of two treatments, around four weeks apart, is usually recommended to begin with.
Improvements build gradually over the following weeks as your skin responds. Most people then have maintenance treatments to keep the results going, and Annie will advise on timing for your skin.

Safety
What you need to know before profhilo
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Known allergy to hyaluronic acid
- Active infection, cold sores or inflamed skin at the treatment site
- Autoimmune conditions or immunosuppressive treatment, assessed individually
- Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication, assessed individually

- Small raised bumps at the injection points, which usually settle within 24 to 48 hours
- Mild swelling, redness or tenderness
- Occasional bruising
Serious risks
Serious complications with Profhilo are rare, as it is placed at set points chosen for safety. The main risk is infection at an injection site, which is minimised with careful aseptic technique. As a hyaluronic acid product it can be dissolved if ever needed. Annie is a member of the Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group, and you are given a number to call if you have any concerns after treatment.
Aftercare
- Do not massage the injection points, as the gel needs to spread on its own
- No makeup over the injection points for twelve hours
- No alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms for 24 hours
- No facials, peels or other treatments over the area for two weeks
- Protect your skin from the sun while it recovers
Questions
Will Profhilo change the shape of my face?
No. Profhilo does not add volume or change your contours. It works on the quality of the skin, so the change is in firmness, hydration and texture.
How many treatments will I need?
A course of two treatments, around four weeks apart, is usually recommended to begin with, followed by maintenance. Annie will confirm a plan for you at consultation.
When will I see results?
Improvements develop gradually over four to eight weeks as your skin responds. The small bumps on the day are not the result, and they settle within a day or two. Results vary from person to person.
Can Profhilo be used on my neck and hands?
Yes. Profhilo is used on the face, neck, décolletage and hands. Annie will assess which areas will benefit most.
Is it painful?
Most people find it quick and manageable, with mild discomfort as each injection is given.
Do I need a consultation first?
Every new client starts with a free, in-person consultation with Annie before any treatment is booked. It is where your medical history is checked, your goals are talked through honestly and realistic results are agreed. If Annie does not think you need a treatment, she will tell you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and any late-cancellation terms are shown when you book through the online booking system.
