How it works, in four steps
Step one: book your consultation online. Annie talks through why you would like a test, your history and what you hope to find out, and helps you choose the test that fits. If you are not sure which test you need, she can advise.
Step two: your blood sample is taken at the clinic in Wymondham.
Step three: Annie talks through your goals with you, so the plan that follows fits your life and what matters to you.
Step four: your results are emailed to you securely once they have been reviewed by London Medical Laboratory's in-house GP, and Annie puts together a personal plan based on your results.

Each test looks at a different set of markers, so the right one depends on what you want to know. Choosing the test together at your consultation means you are not paying for markers you do not need, or missing ones you do.
Some tests need a little preparation, such as fasting or booking at a particular time of day or point in your cycle. Annie will tell you if this applies to your test.

The consultation for a private blood test is £20 per session. London Medical Laboratory tests start from £89, depending on the test you choose. Annie will confirm the price of your chosen test before your sample is taken.
Your results, and your GP
A private blood test gives you information. It does not replace your GP, and it is not a diagnosis on its own. If any of your results need medical follow-up, you will be advised to see your GP and can take your results with you.
If you have symptoms that worry you, are getting worse or have come on suddenly, please see your GP or call NHS 111 rather than waiting for a private test.

What happens at your appointment

Safety
What you need to know before private blood tests
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Let Annie know if you take blood-thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder
- Let Annie know if you have fainted during a blood test before, so you can lie down
- Some tests need fasting or timing, which Annie will explain when you book

- A brief sharp scratch as the needle goes in
- A small bruise where the sample was taken
- Feeling lightheaded for a moment
Serious risks
Having blood taken is a routine, low-risk procedure. Fainting, a larger bruise or swelling, infection at the needle site and irritation of a nerve are all uncommon. Contact the clinic, or your GP, if the area becomes increasingly painful, hot or swollen, or if you notice numbness or tingling in your arm or hand.
Aftercare
- Press firmly on the cotton wool or plaster for a few minutes
- Keep the plaster on for a few hours
- Avoid heavy lifting with that arm for the rest of the day
- Drink some water and eat if you have been fasting
- If bruising appears, it usually fades within a week or so

Does a private test replace my GP?

What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and any late-cancellation terms are shown when you book through the online booking system.
