Microneedling in Wymondham, near Norwich

Medical microneedling uses a microneedling pen to create thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin treats these as small injuries and responds by starting its natural healing process, which includes producing new collagen and elastin. At Annie's clinic in Wymondham, every session is planned and carried out by Annie herself, starting with a free consultation.

How medical microneedling works

Your skin is constantly repairing itself, but collagen and elastin production slows with age, sun exposure and everyday stress on the skin. Microneedling gives that repair process a nudge. The pen moves across the skin making very fine, evenly spaced channels, a controlled injury that causes minimal damage but is enough to tell the skin it needs to rebuild.

As the skin heals over the following days and weeks, new collagen and elastin are laid down. That is why results are gradual. Most people notice an immediate glow, visible changes develop over several days and weeks, and the skin can continue to improve for up to six months after a treatment as collagen production carries on.

Microneedling is mostly used on the face, though it can also be used on other areas such as the neck. Results vary from person to person, and Annie will be honest at your consultation about what it can and cannot do for your skin.

Who microneedling can help

People usually come to Annie for microneedling because of fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged-looking pores, the marks left behind by old acne, or skin that simply looks tired and flat. Because it works with your own healing, it suits people who want a gradual, natural-looking change rather than an overnight one.

It is not the right treatment for everyone. Active, inflamed acne, infection or broken skin in the area need to settle first, and some medical conditions and medicines mean it is better avoided or delayed. These are all checked at your free consultation before anything is booked. If Annie does not think microneedling is right for you, she will say so and suggest something that is.

Single sessions, courses and exosomes

A single session starts from £125. Because collagen builds gradually, most people get the best from a course: three sessions cost £350 and six cost £645. Sessions in a course are usually spaced around four to six weeks apart, giving the skin time to rebuild between treatments.

You can also choose microneedling with exosomes, from £200 for a single session or £550 for a course of three. An exosome product is applied to the skin during treatment, while the fine channels are open, as an addition to the standard treatment.

Annie will recommend a plan at your consultation based on your skin and what you would like to change. There is no pressure to book a course straight away.

Safety

What you need to know before microneedling

Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.

Not suitable if

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active acne, cold sores, infection or broken skin in the treatment area
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last six months
  • A history of keloid or raised scarring
  • Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication, assessed individually
  • Active eczema, psoriasis or rosacea flare in the area, or recent sunburn

Common and expected

  • Redness and mild swelling, similar to slight sunburn, for 24 to 48 hours
  • Slight pinpoint bleeding during treatment and possible bruising
  • Dryness, tightness or light flaking for a few days as the skin renews

Serious risks

Microneedling is a low-risk treatment when carried out by a trained medical professional using sterile, single-use needle cartridges. Infection, prolonged redness, changes in pigmentation and scarring are uncommon, and the risk is reduced by treating only healthy skin, following your aftercare and using sun protection every day. Annie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a member of the Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group. Contact the clinic straight away if you notice increasing pain, heat, swelling or discharge.

Aftercare

  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours so the skin can settle
  • Wear a broad spectrum SPF 50 every day, and avoid sunbeds and direct sun
  • Skip retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs for at least three to five days
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming and strenuous exercise for 48 hours
  • Keep your skin clean, use gentle products and sleep on a fresh pillowcase
  • Let any flaking come away naturally, without picking

Questions

Does microneedling hurt?

Most people describe a light prickling or vibrating sensation. A numbing cream is applied first, and Annie checks how you are feeling throughout.

When will I see results?

Many people notice a glow straight away. Visible changes develop over several days and weeks, and the skin can keep improving for up to six months after a treatment as collagen production continues. Results vary from person to person.

How many sessions will I need?

One session can freshen the skin, but because collagen builds gradually, most people have a course of three or six. Annie will recommend a plan at your consultation.

What is the difference with exosomes?

Microneedling with exosomes adds an exosome product, applied during treatment, to the standard session. It costs from £200 for a single session or £550 for a course of three, and Annie can talk you through whether it suits your skin.

What will my skin look like afterwards?

Most people are red and slightly swollen, similar to mild sunburn, for 24 to 48 hours. There may be slight pinpoint bleeding during treatment and some bruising. Plan any important events with that in mind.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and any late-cancellation terms are shown when you book through the online booking system.
