Aftercare

Filler correction and dissolving

What to do

  • Avoid touching or massaging the area for the rest of the day unless Annie advises otherwise
  • No makeup over the injection points for twelve hours
  • No alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms for 24 hours
  • Wait for Annie's advice before any further filler. Refilling is usually booked for four weeks later
  • Contact Annie straight away if you notice spreading swelling, rash or difficulty breathing

What is normal

  • Swelling, redness and itching at the treatment site for a day or two
  • Bruising and tenderness
  • The area can look flatter or uneven for a while, as some of your own natural hyaluronic acid can be affected too. This settles over the following weeks

When to call

The most serious risk is an allergic reaction, which in very rare cases can be severe. This is why a patch test is done first and why the treatment should only be given by a medical professional trained to manage allergic reactions. Annie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, an independent prescriber and a member of the Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group, and you are given a number to call straight away if you notice swelling that spreads, difficulty breathing or any other concern.

The clinic number is 07359 836026. If you are worried, call or message rather than wait. If you cannot reach us and it is urgent, call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.
