Why has my jawline lost its definition?
Jowls and Jawline Treatment in Wymondham
A clear jawline is one of the first things to soften with age, and one of the things people notice most in photos. What helps depends on whether you have lost support, gained loose skin, or both.
Jowls form when the tissues of the lower face lose support and the skin loosens, so the line from chin to ear is no longer straight. Volume loss in the cheeks and changes in the jaw bone make this more noticeable, and some people also carry a little extra fullness under the chin.
Endolift is designed for exactly this area. A very fine laser fibre is placed just under the skin, with no cutting, to tighten collagen, melt small amounts of fat and stimulate long-term firming. It suits a sagging jawline, loose skin under the chin and mild to moderate laxity. You see a change straight away, with further improvement over around 12 weeks. Expect mild swelling, bruising and some tenderness for a few days.
Where the jawline has lost structure, jaw filler can rebuild a cleaner line from chin to ear, and chin filler can bring balance to a profile that looks short or recessed. Filler in the marionette lines can lift the shadow at the corners of the mouth that often comes with early jowls. Biostimulators such as Sculptra, Radiesse and Harmony CA build collagen gradually over two to six months for firmer skin across the lower face.
Radiofrequency is a gentler, non-injectable option for mild sagging along the jawline and neck, offered as a course of six sessions four weeks apart. Some people also have a square or heavy jaw from strong chewing muscles, or visible bands in the neck. Those can be treated with prescription-only anti-wrinkle treatment, which Annie assesses face to face.
Often the best result comes from combining a tightening treatment with one that restores support. Annie will look at your face from every angle and suggest a plan that suits it, rather than treating the jowl on its own.
When this is not the answer. A large amount of loose skin on the lower face or neck usually needs a surgical opinion. Non-surgical treatments can tighten and support, but they will not remove significant excess skin.
