Tired eyes and dark circles

A hollow under the eye, often called the tear trough, is caused by loss of volume and changes in the bone around the eye socket. It casts a shadow that looks worse under overhead lighting. In the right person, carefully placed tear trough filler can soften this hollow. It is a delicate area and not everyone is a good candidate, so Annie assesses it closely before recommending it.

Thin, crepey skin is a different problem. The skin under the eye is some of the thinnest on the body, and as it loses collagen the darker vessels and muscle underneath show through. Filler does not thicken thin skin. Sunekos, which combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids, can be used around the eyes for crepey skin, dark circles and fine lines, and polynucleotides support the quality of the skin over a course of three treatments.

Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes usually come from muscle movement when you smile. Anti-wrinkle treatment, which is prescription-only and assessed in person, can soften these, and skin boosters can improve hydration in the surrounding skin.

Hooding of the upper eyelid is caused by skin that has loosened over time. Endolift, which uses a fine laser fibre placed just under the skin to tighten collagen, can be used on the upper eyelid area in suitable cases, with results continuing to improve over two to three months.

Some dark circles are pigment, often inherited, and some under-eye bags are caused by fat pads that have pushed forward. Injectable treatments will not remove pigment, and filler can make puffy bags look worse. Most people have more than one of these, which is why Annie looks closely at your eyes in different light before recommending anything.

When this is not the answer. Under-eye bags caused by fat pads pushing forward are not something injectable treatments can fix, and filler can make them look worse. If that is your main concern, Annie will explain your options, which may include a surgical opinion.

What tends to help

Treatments assessed for this

Tear trough filler
Tear trough filler Tear trough filler can soften the hollow between the lower eyelid and the cheek that makes you look tired even after a good night's sleep. It is one of the most delicate areas to treat, and not everyone is suitable, so Annie starts every tear trough treatment in Wymondham with a careful, honest assessment. From £350
Sunekos
Sunekos Sunekos is a skin booster that combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids to stimulate your skin's own collagen and elastin. It is especially popular for thin, crepey skin around the eyes. Annie offers Sunekos for the eyes and face at her clinic in Wymondham. From £180
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides Polynucleotides are a regenerative skin booster made from purified DNA fragments. They stimulate collagen and elastin, support the framework of the skin and calm inflammation. Annie offers them at her Wymondham clinic for the face, neck, eyes and hands. From £250
Anti-wrinkle treatment
Anti-wrinkle treatment Anti-wrinkle treatment is a prescription-only medicine, so it always starts with a free, face-to-face consultation with Annie at our Wymondham clinic, with the treatment itself at a separate appointment. Annie is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and independent prescriber, and the aim is always the same: softer lines that still look like you. Consultation required
Endolift
Endolift Endolift is a non-surgical way to tighten loose skin along the jawline, under the chin and across the lower face. A very fine laser fibre is placed just under the skin, with no cutting, to firm and lift from within. Annie offers Endolift at her clinic in Wymondham, and you can see a difference straight away, with further improvement over the following 12 weeks. From £350
Skin boosters
Skin boosters Skin boosters are injectable treatments that improve the quality of your skin rather than its shape. They hydrate, support firmness and help skin look brighter and smoother, without adding volume or changing your features. At her Wymondham clinic, Annie offers three: Profhilo, polynucleotides and Sunekos. From £180
