Dermaplaning in Wymondham, near Norwich
Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliation that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to lift away dead skin cells and fine facial hair, often called peach fuzz. Your skin is left smoother and brighter, makeup sits more evenly, and your skincare can be absorbed more easily. At the clinic in Wymondham, Annie carries out every treatment herself.

What dermaplaning does
Dead skin cells collect on the surface of your skin over time, trapping oil and debris along with the soft, fine hairs that grow across most faces. Together they can make skin look dull and feel slightly rough. Dermaplaning removes that surface layer in one careful, controlled treatment.
Annie holds the skin taut and uses a sterile surgical scalpel in short, light strokes. It is painless and needs no anaesthetic, and most people are surprised at how smooth their skin feels straight away.
With the barrier of dead cells and hair gone, your serums and moisturisers can reach the skin more easily, and foundation tends to go on more smoothly.
Classic or with LED light
The classic treatment, at £60, follows three simple steps: your skin is cleansed, the dead skin and fine hair are removed with the blade, and the treatment finishes with a collagen face mask.
Dermaplaning with LED light, at £75, adds LED light therapy to the same appointment, a calming way to round off the treatment.
Results are immediate and typically last around three weeks, as your skin and the fine hair renew. Dermaplaning can be repeated every three weeks.
Is dermaplaning right for you?
Dermaplaning suits most people who would like brighter, smoother skin, whether before an event or as a regular part of looking after their skin. It is not suitable over active acne or a skin infection, and it is not recommended if you have thick or dark facial hair, where another treatment may suit you better.
A common worry is that the hair will grow back thicker or darker. It will not. The fine hair is cut at the surface and the follicle is not changed, so it grows back just as it was.
Annie checks your skin at your free consultation and on the day, and will tell you honestly if a different treatment would be a better fit.
Dermaplaning and peels, in Wymondham
Dermaplaning is a useful way to prepare your skin for a chemical peel. With the surface build-up cleared, the peel can work more evenly, so the two are often combined.

Safety
What you need to know before dermaplaning
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Active acne in the treatment area
- Skin infections, cold sores or broken skin
- Thick or dark facial hair
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last six months
- Sunburn or very sensitive, reactive skin on the day
- Recent retinoids or exfoliating acids, which may need pausing beforehand
Common and expected
- Slight redness for a few hours
- Mild dryness for a day or two
- Temporary sensitivity, especially if combined with a peel
Serious risks
Side effects are minimal when dermaplaning is carried out by a qualified practitioner. Small nicks are uncommon and heal quickly. The main risk to be aware of is pigmentation change if freshly exfoliated skin is exposed to the sun without protection, which is why a high SPF is essential for at least a week afterwards. Contact the clinic if you notice anything unusual.
Aftercare
- Use a high SPF for at least one week, and avoid the sun
- Avoid makeup for the rest of the day if you can, to let your skin breathe
- Skip retinoids, acids and scrubs for a few days
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming and heavy exercise for 24 hours
- Keep your skin well moisturised with gentle products
Questions
Will my facial hair grow back thicker?
No. Dermaplaning cuts the fine hair at the surface and does not affect the follicle, so it grows back with the same texture and colour as before.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
No. It is a painless treatment that needs no anaesthetic, and most people find it relaxing.
How often can I have dermaplaning?
Results typically last around three weeks, and the treatment can be repeated every three weeks.
Can I have dermaplaning with a peel?
Yes. Dermaplaning is a good way to prepare the skin for a chemical peel, and the two are often combined. Annie will advise you at your consultation.
Can I have dermaplaning if I have acne?
Not over active acne. Annie will look at your skin first and may suggest treating the breakouts before dermaplaning. Every new client starts with a free, in-person consultation with Annie before any treatment is booked. It is where your medical history is checked, your goals are talked through honestly and realistic results are agreed. If Annie does not think you need a treatment, she will tell you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and any late-cancellation terms are shown when you book through the online booking system.
