Endolift explained: what it is, who it suits and what to expect
Endolift uses a laser fibre finer than a hair to firm the jawline and lower face with no cutting. How it works, who it suits and what recovery is like.
For many people, the first signs of ageing they really notice are around the lower face: a jawline that is not as sharp as it was, a little looseness under the chin, or the start of jowls. Until recently, the main options were surgery or treatments that add volume. Endolift offers a different route, firming loose skin from within, with no cutting.
Annie offers Endolift at her clinic in Wymondham. Here is what it is, who it suits and what to expect.
What is Endolift?
Endolift is a non-surgical laser treatment for mild to moderate skin laxity. A laser fibre thinner than a hair is passed just under the surface of the skin through a tiny entry point. There are no incisions and no stitches.
As the fibre is moved slowly through the area, laser energy warms the layers beneath the skin. That energy does three things:
- It tightens existing collagen, which gives the lift many people see straight away
- It melts small amounts of fat, helping to refine the contour under the chin and along the jaw
- It stimulates the skin to keep firming over the following months as new collagen is laid down
Because the work happens under the skin rather than on the surface, the outer layer of skin is left intact. That is why recovery is usually measured in days rather than weeks.
Which areas can it treat?
Annie uses Endolift for:
- A sagging jawline and jowls
- Loose skin under the chin
- The lower face
- The upper eyelids
- The overall contour of the face
If these are the areas that bother you, our jowls and jawline page explains all the treatments that can help, and how they compare.
Who is Endolift for?
Endolift suits people whose skin has started to loosen but has not dropped significantly, and who want a firmer, more defined lower face without surgery and without adding volume.
It is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. Where skin laxity is more advanced, the improvement will be more modest, and Annie will tell you honestly if she does not think it is the right treatment for you. If your main concern is lost volume rather than loose skin, for example hollow cheeks, a different approach may suit you better. Our volume loss and sagging page covers those options.
Endolift is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have an active infection in the area, or if you have a history of keloid or poor scarring. Blood-thinning medication, autoimmune conditions and recent filler or thread treatment in the same area are all assessed individually at your consultation.
What happens on the day
Annie goes through your medical history and checks the area, and photographs are taken so you can compare your results later. The skin is cleansed and the treatment area is marked out, then the area is numbed with local anaesthetic so you are comfortable.
The fibre is passed under the skin through a tiny entry point and moved slowly through the area. Afterwards the skin is cleaned and cooled, and Annie talks you through your aftercare before you leave. Allow around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the area.
Recovery and aftercare
Most people have mild swelling and bruising for a few days, with some tenderness over the treated area. You may see small marks at the entry points, which fade as they heal. Many people plan a quiet few days afterwards, especially if they have an event coming up.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for a few days
- Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night or two if you swell easily
- Keep the entry points clean and avoid makeup over them until they have closed
- Avoid facials, massage or other treatments over the area until Annie advises
- Use a high-factor sun protection every day while the skin recovers
Serious problems are uncommon, but as with any treatment that uses heat under the skin, there is a small risk of a burn, uneven contour, infection, or temporary numbness or weakness if a small nerve is irritated. You are given a number to call if you notice increasing pain, redness, heat or any change that worries you.
When will I see results?
Many people notice a tighter, lifted look as soon as the treatment is finished. Once any swelling has settled, the result continues to build as new collagen forms, with further improvement over 12 weeks, or two to three months. Results vary from person to person.
Most people need a single session, and Annie will tell you at your consultation if she thinks a second session would help.
Endolift can also sit alongside other treatments. Skin boosters or biostimulators can improve skin quality, and anti-wrinkle treatment can soften expression lines that tightening alone will not change. Any combination is planned with you, so the result looks natural.
How much does Endolift cost?
Endolift starts from £350. The price for your treatment depends on the area and is confirmed at your free consultation, before anything is booked. You can see all treatment prices on our prices page.
