What happens at a free aesthetics consultation with Annie
Every new client sees Annie for a free, in-person consultation first. What she asks, what she checks, and why it never commits you to a treatment.
Booking your first aesthetic treatment can feel like a big step, especially if you are not sure which treatment you need, or whether you need one at all. That is exactly why every new client at Nurse Annie Aesthetic Clinic starts with a free, in-person consultation with Annie before anything is booked.
Here is what happens at that appointment, what Annie will ask, and why it never commits you to anything.
Why the consultation comes first
Annie Spelman is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with an MSc in Advanced Practice and an independent prescriber, with over 20 years of nursing experience. She carries out every treatment at the clinic herself, and she sees every new client in person first.
The reason is simple. A treatment is only right for you if it is safe for you, if it addresses what actually bothers you, and if the result you are hoping for is realistic. None of that can be judged properly without sitting down together. One of the founding principles of the clinic is: if we don't think you need a treatment, we won't do it.
What Annie will ask
The consultation is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Annie will start by asking what you would like to change, in your own words. You do not need to know the name of a treatment. Saying "I look tired all the time" or "my jawline has started to soften" is a perfectly good place to start.
She will then go through your medical history. This part matters, because it decides whether a treatment is safe and right for you. Expect questions about:
- Any medication you take, including blood thinners and supplements
- Allergies, including any fish or seafood allergy, which rules out some skin boosters
- Medical conditions, including autoimmune conditions and any history of cold sores
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Any previous aesthetic treatments, what you had and when
- Upcoming events, holidays or dental work that might affect the timing
It helps to bring a list of any medication you take, and the details of any previous treatments if you have them.
An honest assessment
Next, Annie will look closely at your face and skin and explain what she sees. Sometimes the cause of a concern is not what you expect. Hollowness under the eyes, for example, can come from thinning skin, a loss of volume or simply the structure of your face, and each points to a different approach. Lines that appear when you move are treated differently from lines that are there at rest.
She will be clear about what a treatment can and cannot do. Annie focuses on subtle, natural results, and she will agree realistic outcomes with you before anything is planned. Results vary from person to person, and she will tell you that plainly.
Your plan and the cost
If a treatment is right for you, Annie will explain the options that suit you, how each one works, how long results usually last, any side effects to be aware of, and the cost. You might be talking about skin boosters for dull, dehydrated skin, dermal fillers for lost volume, or anti-wrinkle treatment for lines and wrinkles. Every price is listed on our prices page, so there are no surprises.
Some treatments involve a prescription-only medicine. These are only ever prescribed after a face-to-face assessment like this one. As an independent prescriber, Annie assesses you and writes the prescription herself, rather than relying on a separate prescriber you never meet, and the treatment is then a separate appointment on a later day.
Can I have treatment on the same day?
For some skin treatments, if it is appropriate, there is time and you are comfortable to go ahead. Prescription-only treatments such as anti-wrinkle treatment are never given on the same day as the consultation: the treatment is always a separate appointment. Some others need a patch test first, such as laser hair removal. Either way, there is never any pressure to decide on the day. Many people prefer to go home, think it over and book when they are ready.
What if I do not need anything?
Then Annie will tell you. It might be that your skin would benefit more from a change in skincare, or that the result you have in mind is not something a treatment can safely give you. You will leave with honest advice either way, and there is no charge and no obligation.
