What to do

  • Expect mild swelling and bruising for a few days, and slight tenderness
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for a few days
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night or two if you swell easily
  • Keep the entry points clean and avoid makeup over them until they have closed
  • Avoid facials, massage or other treatments over the area until Annie advises
  • Use a high-factor sun protection every day while the skin recovers

What is normal

  • Mild swelling and bruising for a few days
  • Slight tenderness over the treated area
  • Small marks at the entry points that fade as they heal

When to call

Serious problems are uncommon. As with any treatment that uses heat under the skin, there is a small risk of a burn, uneven contour, infection, or temporary numbness or weakness if a small nerve is irritated. These risks are kept low by careful assessment, correct settings and Annie's experience as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. You are given a number to call if you notice increasing pain, redness, heat, discharge or any change that worries you after treatment.

The clinic number is 07359 836026. If you are worried, call or message rather than wait. If you cannot reach us and it is urgent, call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.
